As we bid goodbye to Fall and enter into the cold, shorter days of Winter, let us reflect on the year that has been and the year to come. A bright spot to ponder, just when we think the daylight will never return, we enter the season of Christmas (12 days), when the early Church declared the birth of the Son, instead of the pagan rebirth of the sun. Light will shine a bit longer each day and new life will begin to sprout before we know it!
That gives us hope, that Christ’s light and love can return to our world a bit more each day, that we can bring His light and love to others for the rebirth of this world to God’s original plan for humanity and creation. The sun returns, the warmth returns, life returns, and hopefully, so does love of God and neighbor. May peace throughout the world truly become a reality in 2025, and may the Holy Land, the land of our Savior’s birth, find peace.
We’ve prepared our homes and hearts for the birth of Jesus and look back on the present year, asking ourselves, “What went well and what could be improved?” As Cursillistas, we also ask ourselves, “How did we bring Christ to others and others to Christ? What do our ‘square meters’ look like? Who is still searching for the Christ Child? Who is being led by a star/the Holy Spirit to find Him? How can we help our friends in 2025 to find Christ or to grow closer to Him?”
We are now preparing for our Spring Cursillo weekends which will again be held at Camp Sentinel in Tuftonboro, NH. More details on the weekends tab. Perhaps a New Year’s Resolution of yours could be to invite your friends to live a Cursillo weekend and then, to live the Method of Piety, Study, and Action in their Fourth Day.
Those are great gifts to share! Piety=gold (the most precious metal that never fades and is symbolic of God’s majesty, to which we should make a daily effort to draw closer to Him in prayer), Study= frankincense (setting our minds on God for higher understanding and unity with God and His plan for salvation), and Action= myrrh (myrrh resin has been used throughout history in medicine, perfumery, and to produce pleasurable feelings. Action is needed to “wound” a tree by cutting into the bark to produce myrrh resin for healing, just as apostolic action is needed to heal and restore our hearts to God and to produce sweet love for God and neighbor).
May those three gifts be our treasure to share with our friends and our Lord and Savior. God bless you all in 2025
