Good morning Elise,

Thank you for calling me earlier this morning to discuss the upcoming Cursillo weekends in March and April.

As I mentioned it is difficult to predict how many participants for each weekend yet, so if we leave the number at 20 per weekend at this time, that would be great.

 

As for the proposed 2026 pricing by SMMC, we are requesting the following prices for use of the campus during our weekends.

 

 

SMCC is asking for a $50 per day with a maximum of $100 per weekend for use of the dorm space.  We can accommodate this price.

SMCC is also asking for a $500 per day with a maximum of $1000 per weekend for the use of the campus.  We cannot accommodate this price for the following reasons:

 

We ask for a $250.00 donation by each participant, except the priest, for the weekend.  The breakdown for this donation is as follows:

$100 for the dorm usage

$80 per person for the 8 meals served during the weekend (breaks down to $10 per meal)

Based on your pricing for the use of the campus ($1000.00) for 20 people, is another $50 per person.  That goes down a bit if more participants come, but based on $500 for 20 people, that is $25 per person, based on 20 participants.

That brings us to either $230 or $205

Then there is the liability policy insurance, based on the price that could add another $10-$15 per person.

So, with these calculations, that brings us to approximately $215.00 to $240.00

 

We also have consumable items to purchase from the National Cursillo office, which can run about $25.00 per person.

And annual dues to the Regional and National offices.

 

So, by our calculations, the $1000 or even $500 for the use of the campus is not affordable for us.

 

We are proposing a $250 use for the campus for the weekend and we will pay the $100 pp for the dorm, since most of the activities will take place there.

We will also need to use the dining room and kitchen for meals and the chapel for spiritual activities (Mass and adoration) and the Auditorium on Sunday for our Ultreya and weekend closing.

 

We would appreciate the board’s consideration for our request of $250 for the campus usage during our weekends, since we are a diocesan ministry which will be on campus four weekends a year.

We would also ask that the spaces we are using are not in conflict with other groups that may wish to use the facilities during the weekends we are on campus.
