I have invited Jyl Dittbenner to be my assistant diocesan coordinator, we have met and discussed, she has discerned, and has said ?yes.?  I told her we would need to nominate and vote on her position at next week?s meeting, so please be advised of this great news!! Jyl will be a welcome addition to our Secretariat, should we vote for her approval, and will do a great job as the Coordinator in years to come.

Good morning,

Went to visit my dad, yesterday, and realized he was not in good condition.   He had pneumonia a month ago and hasn?t fully recovered.  

Tests and overnight exams show probable cardiac failure and water in and on his lungs, which has made his dementia quite pronounced.

So this morning my sister and I agreed this is not the life he wants to live, and the interventions are more invasive and extraordinary than necessary or he would want.

He?ll start Hospice on discharge.

Not sure if I?ll be back in time for the meeting, Wednesday, but will get a report to you.

Thanks for the welcome!  I look forward to learning and growing with you in

I enjoyed the use of the new Magdalene Retreat Center with Cursillo 330,
and I love the way we?ve been having ultreyas there before the weekend.

The person that Tom Vilardi directed me to is Jared Davis (jared.w.davis at doj.nh.gov) Asst Attorney General.  Jared suggested that we reach out to the NH Center for Non-Profits (https://www.nhnonprofits.org/).   Although the seminar referred to has gone by, it has a list of attorneys that do this should we decide to move forward with one.

Getting Started Seminar:
It turns out that NHCNP has a seminar entitled, ?https://www.nhnonprofits.org/events/thinking-about-starting-nonprofit-what-know-you-begin? scheduled for January 29 from 9-11.  It is a virtual meeting and is $20 each for non members.  I will be attending that whether or not we decide to become a member.  NHCNP has a membership for $92/yr that includes discounted or free seminars for starting and maintaining a non-profit, or we can simply pay for the seminars directly. Good morning Elise,

Thank you for calling me earlier this morning to discuss the upcoming Cursillo weekends in March and April.

As I mentioned it is difficult to predict how many participants for each weekend yet, so if we leave the number at 20 per weekend at this time, that would be great.

 

As for the proposed 2026 pricing by SMMC, we are requesting the following prices for use of the campus during our weekends.

 

 

SMCC is asking for a $50 per day with a maximum of $100 per weekend for use of the dorm space.  We can accommodate this price.

SMCC is also asking for a $500 per day with a maximum of $1000 per weekend for the use of the campus.  We cannot accommodate this price for the following reasons:

 

We ask for a $250.00 donation by each participant, except the priest, for the weekend.  The breakdown for this donation is as follows:

$100 for the dorm usage

$80 per person for the 8 meals served during the weekend (breaks down to $10 per meal)

Based on your pricing for the use of the campus ($1000.00) for 20 people, is another $50 per person.  That goes down a bit if more participants come, but based on $500 for 20 people, that is $25 per person, based on 20 participants.

That brings us to either $230 or $205

Then there is the liability policy insurance, based on the price that could add another $10-$15 per person.

So, with these calculations, that brings us to approximately $215.00 to $240.00

 

We also have consumable items to purchase from the National Cursillo office, which can run about $25.00 per person.

And annual dues to the Regional and National offices.

 

So, by our calculations, the $1000 or even $500 for the use of the campus is not affordable for us.

 

We are proposing a $250 use for the campus for the weekend and we will pay the $100 pp for the dorm, since most of the activities will take place there.

We will also need to use the dining room and kitchen for meals and the chapel for spiritual activities (Mass and adoration) and the Auditorium on Sunday for our Ultreya and weekend closing.

 

We would appreciate the board?s consideration for our request of $250 for the campus usage during our weekends, since we are a diocesan ministry which will be on campus four weekends a year.

We would also ask that the spaces we are using are not in conflict with other groups that may wish to use the facilities during the weekends we are on campus.

 

I thank you for your attention to this request and I await your response from the board.

Hi all,

Rob, Sandy and I are signed up for the seminar on January 29th for the 501-3C training.  Thanks for your input.  NH Cursillo will pay the fee for us. Thanks.

Our next scheduled Secretariat meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 11th.  The two main topics will be Jyl and Tracey giving their report on the Women?s Fall weekend and discussion on the 501-3C implementation. W can hopefully go through the other items expediently?

 

Please be promoting the Spring weekends in your parishes and as soon as the tri-fold pamphlets come in, I will get those distributed state-wide somehow, and I will be contacting the deans again to promote NH Cursillo in their deaneries.  Hopefully they will encourage the priests in their deaneries to promote Cursillo.  God bless and enjoy the snow!! Fr. Chris is smiling ??

Here is what Elise sent to me re; the SMMC facility.  They are adjusting the facility fee to $15 pp for the weekend in recognition of Cursillo?s volunteerism at the center.  I think that?s ok money-wise with our $250 pp donation.  Thoughts?  Everything else in the contract is the same.  

 

I would also like to ask Sandy, Jyl, Kevin, and Rob to work on the bylaws with me to get them in line with the 501 (c ) (3) application.  If anyone else would like to work on this document, please let me know.  This would be a special session(s) in the foreseeable future so that we can get this done expeditiously.  I will have Rob send both documents to you asap so that we can look them over at our convenience and come to the meeting(s) with your suggestions.  Thanks.

a.               After careful consideration, we have adjusted the Facility Fee to be $15 per person for the weekend in recognition of Cursillo's volunteer efforts! We greatly appreciate your help!

 

2.               Two Participant Release Waiver Forms: Every event participant must complete and sign this form. Once it?s signed, you can either scan and email it to me or mail the physical copies to our Diocesan address after your event.

 

We are waiting to hear back from our insurance company as to if and how Cursillo could purchase a Special Events insurance annually since you hope to have many events a year at Magdalen.
