Easter

Diocesan Coordinator's Corner

Dear Cursillistas,

He is Risen! Alleluia!!

A blessed Easter season to all!  What a wonderful gift the Easter season is;  seven weeks to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.  During this season we will hear many stories from Holy Scripture about the growth of the Church; the women who first encountered the angel at the tomb who proclaimed that Jesus had risen from the dead, Mary Magdalen (the "apostle to the apostles") encountering our risen Lord and then He instructed her to go and tell the others!  Jesus continues to tell all Christians/Cursillistas to do the same - joyfully proclaim to others the Good News that Jesus Christ is risen and has saved us!

The Acts of the Apostles relates the growth of the Church after the Holy Spirit came upon them to strengthen them to proclaim this wonderful news!!  We invoke the Holy Spirit constantly as Cursillistas to fill our hearts and minds with His love so that He can renew the face of the earth.  And as Jesus proclaims, “They will know that we are His disciples by our love for one another.” (John 13:35)

During this time of renewal of Eucharistic devotion, let us all remember that we can truly recognize Jesus in the breaking of the bread and sharing of the cup, just as the disciples at Emmaus did.  Let us consecrate ourselves to be more pious, studious, and active in our knowledge of, and love of, God.

I will end this note with the prayer that our Lord prayed for His disciples (and us) in the Gospel of John 17: 17-18, “Father…Consecrate them in the truth.  Your Word is truth.  As you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world.  And I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated in truth.”  Let us call upon the Lord to be with us as we courageously proclaim His truth in our environments.
